Young Internationals
This groups aim is to meet and have fun with other youngish people from around the world living in Copenhagen. Make some friends and explore a foreign city and surrounds!
This group started in June 2006, and has grown very quickly to its approximate 100 members.
Meet ups are approximately every two weeks and will be mostly held in or around Copenhagen. Meetups so far have included a coffee afternoon, dinner and pub nights, tourist copenhagen day, and a day at the opera and iceskating. I am interested to hear what people would like to see and do and if they know of any good places for a group to go. Typical attendence at our meetups is 10-15 members, from all over the world, all with different jobs.

A call to all cowboys (and cowgirls)...
Hey fellow canucks.I have a strange yet urgent request. We are having our summer party at work and the theme is Cowboy (or Cowgirl) Western. Now in Alberta this would mean a quick trip into my closet (or Value Village) but in DK I have no idea what to do. Would anyone know where I could get 'real' Wranglers (not the psuedo-fashionable kind you find here) and possibly some cool cowboy shirts, boots, buckles, etc? Alternatively would anyone have clothes I could borrow? I am about 5'10" and size 10 boots. There is a case of beer (I'll try for Canadian but no guarantees or a bottle of Crown Royal.
Thanks Canucks.

Where the grass is greener
From www.economist.comCities in Australia and Canada are rated the most liveable in the world
With low crime, little threat from instability or terrorism and a highly developed transport and communications infrastructure, Canada and Australia are home to the most liveable destinations in the world. Four of the ten most liveable cities surveyed by the Economist Intelligence Unit are in Australia, and two of the top five are Canadian. Vancouver is the most attractive destination, with a liveability index of just 1.3%.

Shipping
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with shipping things to Canada. I live in Sweden, but i am having great difficulties finding anything affordable and sea freight. Length is not a big deal for me, I'd be happy to stick it on a boat and forget about it, but it seems just as expensive as air freight. Anyone gone through something similar? We would have approx. 40-50kg.Thanks
Websites for rental housing
Having just completed a search for accommodation, I can pass on the following list of agencies that offer rental housing. Some of them are strictly in Copenhagen, but some let you select other cities in Denmark. A couple of translation tips:Bolig = house.
Leje or Lejning = rental.

A membership fee is required.

Their properties cover the upper range of the market.

Click Lejeboliger. Their properties are mostly in the city centre.
http://bolig.dba.dk/
Click Lejebolig for your desired city. A membership fee is required. This site is run by "Den Blå Avis" (the blue paper) which is a popular weekly buy and sell type publication.
http://copenhagen.craigslist.org/apa/
You can advertise free under "housing wanted". However, if anyone emails you in response to your posting, be very wary whether he/she is a legitimate landlord or a con artist.
http://www.city-udlejning.dk/
The following Danish expressions are used on this site:
Ledig = available.
Ledig nu = available now.
Udlejet = already let out.

Helpful member Carl also recommends a couple of links for housing companies. None are recommended above the others, as I've heard good and bad things about all. Make certain you also look in the classifieds section of the Copenhagen Post newspaper.

Le 15 Août! Fête des acadiens - Acadian day!
Hey everyone!Well, I don't really know if there are any other acadians here other than myself, but next wednesday the 15th of august is acadian day. For those who don't know, french canadian acadians (mostly from NB or NS) celebrate this day each year, usually including face painting, flag waving, lots of acadian music and lots of beer drinking. So if anyone would like to get together for at least a drink or two (face painting and flag waiving not necessary) let me know with a comment or email and we can maybe figure something out. If not, well bonne fête des acadiens le 15 Août!
