If everything happens as planned, it will feature a barbeque, special drinks, Canadian birthday cake, music, special guests, gifts, prizes and hockey! But no guarantees, we'll just have to see who shows up!When: Saturday, July 3, starting at 4 PM
Where: Tight Restaurant and Bar

(1 block west of Amagertorv and 1 block south of Stroget)

Danish partners and non-Canadian expats are welcome to attend. We hope you'll come early and stay late. Restaurant part-owner Stephen Collins will be cooking barbequed seafood, chicken wings and corn on the cob, and offering Canadian beer and snacks. The food and drinks at the restaurant are always great. Come on down and celebrate with your fellow Canadians!
Moving to Denmark? New "one-stop shop" for immigrants opens
The Copenhagen city council has opened a service centre to help people relocating to Denmark. The new office is called the "Copenhagen International Service's One Stop Shop" and opened on June 1st.The initiative started with a web site:
http://www.kk.dk/thinkincph.aspx
which presents information on employment, education, accommodation, leisure, culture, health care and taxes. (The information is most useful for people considering moving to Denmark.) The One Stop Shop brings together City departments and SKAT (the tax authority) to provide advice and assistance to help internationals navigate the bureaucracy of getting permits, etc.
Mette Justesen, International Service project manager, hopes the new centre will enable city residents to get a CPR card and necessary permits in a single visit of 45 minutes. Formerly, several visits to different departments in different locations were required.
With more than 10,000 people relocating to Copenhagen each year, the City is working with other government departments to try and make the entry process much easier.
