Moving to Denmark? New "one-stop shop" for immigrants opens
The Copenhagen city council has opened a service centre to help people relocating to Denmark. The new office is called the "Copenhagen International Service's One Stop Shop" and opened on June 1st.The initiative started with a web site:
http://www.kk.dk/thinkincph.aspx
which presents information on employment, education, accommodation, leisure, culture, health care and taxes. (The information is most useful for people considering moving to Denmark.) The One Stop Shop brings together City departments and SKAT (the tax authority) to provide advice and assistance to help internationals navigate the bureaucracy of getting permits, etc.
Mette Justesen, International Service project manager, hopes the new centre will enable city residents to get a CPR card and necessary permits in a single visit of 45 minutes. Formerly, several visits to different departments in different locations were required.
With more than 10,000 people relocating to Copenhagen each year, the City is working with other government departments to try and make the entry process much easier.

Hi everybody,My name is Sebastien, I am french canadian living in Vancouver for 15 years now. I just became a member not long ago. I am planning to move to Denmark to be with my Fiancee or should I say my wife. We are planning to get married in Denmark soon in october. I will come to visit her for 2 weeks. There is some paper that we have to prepare for the city hall in order to be able to get married there. And we need to make an appointment with them too. I am wondering if anyone have any information about that? She is living in Denmark for a month now and got sponsor from a company to work there. She has a 2 years visa. I am from Canada and I wonder what is the best way to go to start the process for the reunification visa after we get married. I am self employed here in Vancouver. I own a small landscaping business for 5 years. I will have to close business when the visa comes. But I really want to get as much information as possible before I move to Denmark..We miss each other so much and I hope that I can be with her as soon as possible...We will need to find a small house and I will need to find work too. Not sure if I could work in landscaping again..but I can do pretty much anything.. I am fluent in both French and English. I appreciate any input..Thanks for your time everyone...
