WiseCracker’s Part II – English speaking stand-up comedy show
Don’t miss the second show in Denmark presented by WiseCracker’s – Scandinavia’s first English speaking Comedy Club. It’s being organized in cooperation with American and British expat Meetup groups.
When: Thursday, April 1, 19.30
Where: The Dubliner, Amagertorv 5, Copenhagen
This time there are 9 comedians from around the world – all performing in English.
To make up for the poor sound towards the back at the premiere show on March 4, we have lowered the price for advance tickets to 70 DKK. The Dubliner will fix the sound in time for the April 1 show.
Advance tickets available through www.wisecrackers.dk
See you there!

Olympic Streaming
Hi there,
I’m wondering if anyone has found a good streaming website for the 2010 Olympics. I’d really love to hear the commentary in English!
Olympic Night at Tight – Canada v Denmark – Feb 19th!
Howdy all,
If you’re looking for a place to watch some Olympic coverage, then come out to the lounge bar at Tight on Friday, February 19th!
Join us from 7:30pm for drinks and general Olympic merriment, culminating in the biggest men’s curling match of 2010 – Canada v Denmark!!
With both teams bringing out their A-game broom handling skills, it’ll be a battle not to be missed; whether or not you have any prior knowledge of the sport!
The match starts at 11pm, but the gang at Tight are staying open late just for us, so we do need to let them know approximate numbers. Please pop over to the AllCanucks Facebook page to RSVP, or you can reply to this post. Feel free to get in touch with any questions.
Hope to see you there eh!

Anna Iachino releases debut album Feb. 18
Anna Iachino, a Canadian poet and vocalist who has lived in Copenhagen since 2007, will be releasing her long-awaited debut album this month. A partner in the group MonkeyRat with Faroese born bassist and composer Arnold Ludvig, Anna says the album presents a musical fusion of funk, rap, spoken word, soul, hip hop, r’n’b, retro, jazz, and alternative rock music that expresses her political, social, romantic and comical views. The album’s title track summarizes her opinion of the Danish “jantelaw”.
The 12-track album, produced by Tutl Records, will be launched at a release party at Mojo, on Thursday, February 18th at 6 pm. The album is already available in stores, distributed by Danacord. Tracks have been placed on the Espace Musique program on CBC Radio in Canada.
MonkeyRat’s fans have compared MonkeyRat to a cross between Skunk Anansie, Frank Zappa, Grace Jones, White Stripes and Nina Hagen. The group’s web site is: www.myspace.com/monkeyratmusic

Århus happenings?
Hi all! I’m new here!
Any gatherings in Århus?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hockey Sunday in Copenhagen
I have now got a regular schedule for Hockey Games at the Dubliner Pub, as we will be showing the previous Saturday night’s Hockey Night in Canada games Sunday mornings starting at 10am. This shall be occurring every Sunday morning. Apparently these broadcasts also include Coaches corner, Satellite hotstove, etc.
From here, if crowds are good we may either get more screens, the BIG screen or even possibly the function room to watch the games (privileges of knowing the staff!).
Games for Sunday December 1:
10am – Pittsburgh Penguins at Toronto Maple leafs
Noon – Columbus Blue Jackets at Calgary Flames
I know it’s early on a Sunday but it’d be nice if there was more than just me sitting drinking a Guinness and watching the games!

It might be best for you to call first and ask nicely if they can show a game just to make sure there is no football, cricket or rugby matches that night.

Le 15 Août! Fête des acadiens – Acadian day!
Hey everyone!
Well, I don’t really know if there are any other acadians here other than myself, but next wednesday the 15th of august is acadian day. For those who don’t know, french canadian acadians (mostly from NB or NS) celebrate this day each year, usually including face painting, flag waving, lots of acadian music and lots of beer drinking. So if anyone would like to get together for at least a drink or two (face painting and flag waiving not necessary) let me know with a comment or email and we can maybe figure something out. If not, well bonne fête des acadiens le 15 Août!
