Running group
Hi,
We have not been able to find an non-Dane running group. My Canadian fiancé and myself (Danish) would therefore like to start a non-Dane running group. We live in Hellerup so we could start from there OR Østerbro OR ?
Let us know if you are interested.

Moving from Denmark? Beware of this fraudster
A message of warning to expats who are moving away from Denmark. Several expats who have moved from Denmark have had the misfortune to be defrauded by a crook who masquerades as an international mover.
Kristian Vendelbo has been “at work” in the Copenhagen area for over 20 years and has been in trouble with the police, but so far has evaded prosecution. He may operate using an alias (Chris, for example) and has run moving firms under several names:
VIP Shipping
ship4expats (web address www.ship4expats.com)
expat-ship.com
A1 Shipping
A1 Relocation
Tilt Shipping
Vendelbo Spedition
Kristian Vendelbo is approximately 65 years old, with gray hair and reportedly looks like a shabby Santa Claus. He may pass himself off as working for a legitimate moving company, collect people’s money and goods and then never deliver anything or refund any money. He has advertised in The Copenhagen Post (but of course never paid for the ads). Many expats, including trusting Canadians, have regretted giving him large amounts of money and then never received their possessions.
DR TV has broadcast one program segment about Kristian Vendelbo and VIP Shipping. Following the TV broadcast, a Danish warehouse contacted the network to say they are holding 12 huge packing crates that Mr. Vendelbo deposited 2 years previously, never paid for and never collected.
More information is shown at this website:

Expats must therefore be very cautious about being taken in by this fraudster or anyone matching his description, and report any incidents to the police. It would be nice to think the police would take an interest, but so far it appears they are merely compiling complaints and filing them under G.
New rules governing Canadian citizenship
New rules affecting the Canadian Citizenship Act came into effect on April 17, 2009. A new law gives Canadian citizenship to certain people who have lost it and to others who will be recognized as citizens for the first time. The main part affecting Allcanuck members pertains to the citizenship of children who are born outside of Canada. See all the details at:

Hey!
Anyone know where I can watch Canucks playoff games in Copenhagen or even in Malmo?
Thanks!

Animal Shelter Opportunities
Is anyone is interested in adopting a dog, cat or other pet? If so, you should check out this shelter:
http://www.dyrevaernet.dk/
Or contact me, Andrew Madsen, via email or phone at 2763 5110 and I can put you in touch with the English-speaking vet at the shelter.
They are always eager for volunteers to work with the animals they take in, they especially need help in the mornings from 8-13:00. They are also looking for an assistant to the vet (volunteer only position) so anyone with an interest in animal health issues/veterinary medicine can contact me at the above number.

Andrew Madsen

Wallmans
Hey everyone! I went to Wallmans on Friday night with the family and had a fantastic time!
It is like a variety show I guess, dinner and entertainment. It is also 99% English, but my father-in-law, who speaks little English, was able to enjoy the show.
It is in København at Circus, a 5-minute walk from the central station.
Two thumbs up from me!
Landed in Northern Jutland
Hi Allcanuckers..
I don’t think you’ll see me at any more Pub Nights because I have recently moved to Sæby with my wife and our two boys. What I really want to know is,…Who’s living up here? I’m new to the area:)
Please write me below if you live in Jutland.
Thanks Andy
The right to dual citizenship in Denmark
To: Members of the Danish parliament
One of the requirements for a foreign national to become a Danish citizen, is to abdicate their current citizenship.
A Danish citizen living abroad must also abdicate his/her citizenship in order to become a citizen of another country. This is the case even if that country allows dual citizenship, such as in Sweden and Holland.
We believe this is an unfair requirement and request that Denmark change its current law to allow dual citizenship, thereby allowing foreigners to keep their current nationality while becoming a citizen of Denmark and allowing Danish citizens to keep their nationality while becoming a citizen of another country.
We request that Denmark change its current law in order to allow dual citizenship.

The Last Supper
“After 10 years of playing all over the world and releasing records via the DIY route,
these rock’n’roll romantics reckon the time has come to finally put the band on the map.”
Most of the bands featured in Classic Rock’s Introducing pages tend to be eager young newcomers. There aren’t many like Canadian hopefuls The Last Supper, who have toured in more than 15 different countries over the past decade.
Dan Shwetz’s group have been around in one form or another since the mid-90s when they formed at the University of Western Ontario. The frontman remembers that after graduating they weren’t particularly keen on embracing the so-called ‘real world’ and all the boring compromises that come with it. “None of us wanted to get a real job,” Shwetz recalls. “So we bought a tour bus and hit the road. Our reason for being musicians was to travel. Our first tour was at the end of ’99. We shipped our bus out to Europe. Our goal was to get to the pyramids in time for the millennium.”
Egypt has long held a fascination for the band, whose line-up is completed by guitarist Peter Walker, bassist Brian Hendricks and drummer Frankie Biggz. When they arrived at their destination, the group were so taken by it that they decided to try to organise a Western-style festival by the pyramids – a long-held ambition that Dan is hopeful will come off soon.
